The Hemp vs Marijuana

Hemp and marijuana both derive from the cannabis sativa family. Think of Cannabis being the parent, and they have 2 children, Hemp and Marijuana. While they share certain similarities, they have several very distinct and crucial differences.

Hemp plants possess a high concentration of CBD, with only traces of THC, and hemp extracts are associated with medicinal use. Hemp creates CBD oil, Hemp Oil, Cannabis Oil (made from hemp) and usually contains less than 0.03% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Hemp and industry hemp refer to the strain of Cannabis plant that is grown from agricultural products such as seeds, hemps seed oils and textiles.

Marijuana however, while biologically similar to hemp, is ultimately different.

Marijuana generally refers to Cannabis sativa plants that have a high concentration of THC, and the word stems from the recreational use of THC rich cannabis for the purpose of getting “high.”

Marijuana creates THC oil, Marijuana oil, Cannabis oil (made from Marijuana) and contains more than 15% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),
